The Brief

Our team of professionals were tasked with building a new security system for NHS drugs cabinets that are used on hospital wards.
It is crucial that these cabinets are safe and secure as they contain medicines and tablets for patients at the hospital. When the NHS turned to our electronics experts, they already had a system in place but it was cumbersome and too costly to manufacture.
The Solution
Knowing the crucial nature of these cabinets, we knew that the completed product had to work perfectly. Our professionals inspected the current system that was in place before coming up with fresh and innovative ideas for a new and improved system. Once we had all the relevant information, we began working on the product itself.
Our first step was to create a design for a small Printed Circuit Board that included a local audible and visual alarm. This was installed as a safety measure so that hospital staff would become aware if unauthorised personnel tried accessing the cabinets. We also added the alarms to a remote location in the hospitals, usually at the nurses’ desk.
The Result
Everyone is aware that hospital staff are run off their feet on a day-to-day basis, so Orbit Technologies were on hand to make part of their day a little easier. Our new system is much slicker than the old version, and it is much more reliable, putting the staff’s mind at ease.
